Meet your tutor, Simon Barker

Simon Barker, one of the owners of Commonwood Manor, was lucky enough to start his working life with Ehrmanns, an old-fashioned wine merchant in London which was linked with one of the largest importers of German, Spanish, French and New World wines in Britain. There he was tutored by Rudi Nassauer, reputed to have the finest palate in England at the time.

After spending some years tasting up to 300 wines per week (someone had to do it) he was awarded the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Diploma. (The only level more advanced is Master of Wine.) Since then he has led wine appreciation tours to the Loire, the Champagne region and Bordeaux and has led numerous wine tastings and wine appreciation courses.
